Queens

A great mix of commercial and residential spaces.

Welcome to Queens Neighborhoods

Astoria

This area was originally home to a Native American settlement, Westerners established roots here in the late 1600s. Then eventually, Astoria became a wealthy suburb and was named after John Jacob Astor, who was once the wealthiest man in the nation.

In the early 1900’s Astoria was one of the first homes to the new film industry, and today is home to the Museum of the Moving Image which is located in the former headquarters of the Astoria Studios. The Museum houses the nation's largest and most comprehensive collection of artifacts relating to the art, history, and technology of the moving image.

The Noguchi Museum and The Steinway& Sons Piano factory can also be found in Astoria. The Japanese-American architect Isamu Noguchi did some of the period furniture you can see now at the popular TWA airport hotel. He designed and created this intimate foundation and museum across the street from his former studio in Queens to highlight some of his works. The Steinway and Sons Piano factory is open for limited tours, check their website for additional information.

Be sure to check out Astoria Park with over 50 acres this park is home to the oldest and largest swimming pool in the city which was used in the 1936 and 1964 Olympic Games. The park along the banks of the East River has stunning views of Manhattan and the Triborough-Robert F. Kennedy Bridge.

Long Island City

Located south of Astoria, Long Island City (LIC) is a neighborhood that has seen a lot of change and growth with a great mix of commercial and residential spaces. Head south to the Hunters Point district to capture the amazing views of the Manhattan skyline from a rooftop bar or the array of area restaurants.

Long Island City can be easily accessed from anywhere in the city. There are two ferry stops in Hunters Point and plenty of subway connections at Queensboro Plaza.
